Taylor Swift wants out of the Blake Lively Drama

Taylor Swift did not sign up for this episode and she would very much like to change the channel.

After private text messages between the pop megastar and actress Blake Lively were unsealed and splashed across court documents this week, a source tells PEOPLE that Swift is feeling more than a little exposed. The singer is reportedly keeping her head down and her distance from the chaos as the legal drama surrounding It Ends With Us continues to spiral.

According to the source, Taylor feels her privacy was crossed in a major way. And honestly who would not feel some type of way if their personal texts suddenly became courtroom reading material. Swift was one of several famous names whose messages appeared in the unsealed filings tied to Lively’s ongoing legal battle with her former costar and director Justin Baldoni and his production company Wayfarer Studios. Matt Damon and his wife Luciana were also mentioned as having text exchanges with Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds.

Let us rewind. Back in December, Blake Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni alleging sexual harassment and claiming she faced a retaliatory smear campaign after speaking up. Baldoni fired back with a countersuit accusing Lively and Reynolds of defamation and extortion. That countersuit has since been dismissed, but the mess is far from over. Baldoni’s legal team is now trying to get the original case thrown out ahead of a trial scheduled for May.

As part of that effort, lawyers submitted a massive batch of court filings ahead of a summary judgment hearing on January twenty second. Buried in those documents were private text messages between Lively and her famous friends including Taylor Swift.

Some of the released texts show Lively and Swift discussing Baldoni and the behind the scenes tension surrounding It Ends With Us. In one exchange cited by Baldoni’s legal team, Lively allegedly asked Swift to endorse a revised version of the film’s script even without having read it. According to the filing, Swift responded with an enthusiastic I will do anything for you.

Lively’s attorneys quickly pushed back saying the texts were missing crucial context. They pointed to Lively’s deposition where she explained that she had sent Taylor the script while on her way to her apartment because Baldoni was still there. Lively said she asked Swift to read it but made clear there was no pressure and that she did not have to if she did not want to.

At the time, Swift was allegedly en route to visit her friend while Baldoni was present in Lively’s home. Afterward, Lively reportedly texted Swift calling her epically heroic and saying she had recapped every moment to Ryan Reynolds.

The messages also included some less than flattering language. Lively allegedly referred to Baldoni as a clown and a doofus. Swift allegedly used even sharper words. None of which were meant for public consumption.

According to the source, Taylor was simply being a friend. What started as private support between two women turned into something much bigger than Swift ever expected. She never imagined her personal messages would be dissected by lawyers and strangers alike.

Now, the vibe is clear. Taylor Swift is staying far away from the noise. She is focused on protecting her peace and letting the courts handle the rest. A representative for Swift did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

One thing is certain. This situation is a reminder that even billion dollar pop stars are not immune to the consequences of receipts becoming public. And sometimes minding your business is not enough when the group chat gets subpoenaed.

Vibe Culture Daily will be watching. Quietly. Unlike those text messages
