Now you know good and well Meg was not about to sit quietly while someone tried to drag her reputation through the mud for clicks.
A jury heard the evidence and said oh absolutely not. They found Cooper liable for defamation intentional infliction of emotional distress and promoting an altered sexual depiction. In other words they agreed that this was not just gossip this was an all out attack on Megan’s name character and peace of mind.
At first the jury awarded seventy five thousand dollars in damages but the judge later adjusted the total to fifty nine thousand. And trust me it is not even about the dollar amount. It is the principle. It is the message. It is the very real reminder that you cannot just hop online throw on your favorite ring light and tell any wild story about somebody because you think the internet will protect you. Actions have consequences even on social media where folks think they are invincible behind a screen.
