Pharrell Williams is still showing us how it’s done, cementing his place as a game-changer across music, fashion, and now, footwear. His latest link-up with adidas—the futuristic Virginia Adistar Jellyfish—is officially making major waves.
The collaborative sneaker has been crowned “Shoe of the Year” for the upcoming 2025 Footwear News Achievement Awards (FNAA), otherwise known as the industry’s “Shoe Oscars.”
According to Footwear News, the Adistar Jellyfish is the chosen one for this year’s coveted award, with the major ceremony going down in downtown Manhattan, New York City, on December 3rd.
The producing fashionista himself broke down the vision:
“The Virginia Adistar Jellyfish started as a really big idea that we kept pushing, shaping, refining until it became real. I wanted it to feel fluid, futuristic and free, not just another shoe but a living design,” Williams stated. “I dreamed of a shoe that felt alive, something that moved like water, that had its own rhythm, energy and glow. Seeing people connect with that spirit is the most rewarding part.”
adidas dropped the highly anticipated Jellyfish to the masses earlier this summer in August with a fiery orange colorway, followed by a cool blue drop in Las Vegas back in October.
The FNAA is celebrating its 39th year, acknowledging the legends, rising stars, and hot brands shaping the footwear game—and this year, Pharrell’s fluid vision is leading the charge.
