Grammy winning super producer Benny Blanco launched the first episode of his new YouTube video podcast Friends Keep Secrets on February 24, and instead of the music making headlines, it was his hygiene. Benny, 37, who is married to pop powerhouse Selena Gomez, filmed the pilot at the home of co host Lil Dicky, real name Dave Burd, and his wife Kristin Batalucco.
What should have been a chill industry conversation quickly spiraled when Benny casually propped his bare feet up on the couch cushions, revealing soles that appeared visibly dirty. On someone else’s furniture. On camera. In HD. And as if that visual was not enough, he also passed gas mid conversation, sending viewers into a collective meltdown.
Clips flooded X within minutes. One stunned fan wrote they were in complete disbelief not even sixty seconds into the episode. Another zeroed in on the now infamous couch moment and bluntly suggested Selena sign divorce papers immediately. The reactions ranged from horrified to hysterical, with one commenter joking that Benny’s feet looked like he escaped Pompeii.
The timing made it even juicier. Benny and Selena, 33, tied the knot in September during an intimate ceremony in Santa Barbara, surrounded by close friends including Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran. Fans who once swooned over their low key romance were suddenly questioning how the Only Murders in the Building star is coping with what social media has labeled questionable habits.
