One thing about Ray J he is going to ride for his sister Brandy like the rent is due and loyalty is the only currency that matters. This week he hopped on social media with the type of energy that lets you know he had been holding this in for a minute. He was not playing he was not whispering and he was not easing into it. He went straight to the point and called out Jay Z and Beyoncé for showing up to The Boy Is Mine Tour but never stopping backstage to say hello to Brandy.
Ray J looked right into that camera and said that certain men need to pull up and speak when they come to the show. He spoke their names clearly Jay Z and Beyoncé. He reminded them that Brandy and Monica have love for them that the family respects them and that they all grew up looking up to both of them. But he also made it very clear that he did not like how the Carters allegedly came to multiple shows took all the pictures and then dipped without so much as a quick hello to Brandy.
And let me tell you he meant every word. You could hear the big brother energy loud and clear. It was giving nobody is going to play in my sister face not while I am alive and have a working phone.
In another part of his video he softened it a little but not by much. Ray J said he still has real love for the Carter family and that this was not beef. He simply believes that if Jay Z and Beyoncé show up to Brandy and Monicas shows in places like Los Angeles and Brooklyn then it would not hurt to say a quick what is up to Brandy on the way in or out. According to him they know she is there and it would take them all of ten seconds to swing by her dressing room and wish her a great show.
Ray J admitted that his sister had never complained about this. She had not said a single word to him. He said he was the one crashing out this time his words not mine because he felt the whole situation was crazy. And honestly if you have ever had a protective sibling you know exactly how he feels. Sometimes family will go off on your behalf while you are somewhere drinking your water and minding your business.
That is exactly what Brandy was doing. And baby when Ray J posted his message he made sure to clarify that Brandy and the rest of the family did not cosign it. He even put it in the caption with all the dramatic flair you would expect from him. He said this was coming from the heart that he loves his family and that he loves Jay and Bey at the same time. He said Brandy was too focused on making every show the best it could be to worry about anything else. And he finished by admitting he would probably get in trouble for saying it but he said it anyway.
The internet reaction was different than usual this time. People understood where Ray J was coming from. Most of us know what it feels like when you believe someone is overlooking the people you love. Especially someone like Brandy who has given the world decades of music vocals harmonies and iconic moments.
At the end of the day Ray J was not starting drama he was standing on love. And even if he did it loudly you cannot deny the heart behind it.
