Nicki appears on Turning Point and boy is that the correct term for her career

Nicki Minaj popped up at Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest in Phoenix this weekend like a jump scare nobody asked for. No announcement, no warning, just Nicki walking onstage hand in hand with Erika Kirk, the widow of TPUSA founder Charlie Kirk and current CEO of the organization, all set to her own song Super Bass like this was Coachella and not a conservative conference. They hugged it out, smiled for the crowd, and then sat down for a Q and A that quickly turned into a love letter to Donald Trump and Vice President J D Vance.

Nicki wasted no time letting the room know where she stands. She said she loves both Trump and Vance and called it an honor to be there. Charlie Kirk then kicked things off by asking her to read her own tweets dragging California Governor Gavin Newsom, which he described as amazing and so funny. Nicki happily obliged, reading aloud her recent posts attacking Newsom as he flirts with a possible 2028 presidential run.

One of those tweets went after Newsom for supporting transgender children, with Nicki mocking the idea and framing it as something no normal adult would campaign on. She read the tweet out loud to applause, doubling down on rhetoric she has been pushing online for weeks. Meanwhile, in the real world, Newsom has publicly said he supports the trans community, citing his trans godson and a record of signing pro trans legislation, while also saying conversations about fairness in sports are more complicated than internet sound bites.

Back onstage, Kirk asked Nicki what she would say to Newsom now if she had the chance. Nicki leaned all the way in, calling him Newscum and referring to him as Gavie poo, saying people would clean up the scum if they had to and telling him to tread lightly. It was aggressive, theatrical, and clearly designed to get cheers from the room, which it did.

From there, the conversation turned fully into praise for Trump and Vance. Nicki said she has the utmost respect and admiration for Trump and credited him with giving people hope that the bad guys can be beaten while keeping integrity intact. She said she finds Trump and Vance relatable and described them as still connected to real people, young and old, rich and not so rich. According to her, they make people feel proud to be American.

And if you were wondering whether the admiration goes both ways, it does. Earlier this month, Vance jumped into the long running Nicki Minaj and Cardi B feud by posting Nicki greater than Cardi. Nicki has also been boosting posts featuring Trump alongside Elon Musk and sharing videos praising Trump’s accomplishments during his second term.

This isn’t Nicki’s first recent step into political controversy either. She appeared at the United Nations earlier this year and made misleading claims about extremism against Nigerian Christians, an appearance that was reportedly facilitated by Trump adviser Alex Bruesewitz.

So yes, Nicki Minaj at AmericaFest happened. Hand holding, praise flowing, tweets read aloud like scripture, and the Barbz watching from home trying to figure out when rap beef turned into political alignment. Love her or side eye her, one thing is clear. Nicki is choosing her lane loudly, proudly, and with absolutely no interest in easing anybody into it.
