Jennifer Garner is not sugarcoating anything, and honestly, bless her for that.
While chatting about life these days and teasing the upcoming second season of her Apple TV+ drama The Last Thing He Told Me, the 53 year old actress opened up about her split from Ben Affleck and made one thing very clear. The hardest part was not the noise. It was the loss.
According to Garner, the public attention surrounding their 2015 breakup was not what broke her. What hurt was the actual unraveling of a family. The end of a real partnership. The quiet grief of losing a best friend you built a life with. That is the part people do not see when they are too busy staring at headlines.
After the split from Affleck, who shares her three kids Violet Anne, Seraphina Rose, and Samuel, Garner did what grown women do when life knocks the wind out of them. She leaned into her people. Hard. She made a deliberate effort to stay connected, to show up, to surround herself with community. Because resilience does not live in isolation. It lives in relationships and in the people who hold you up when things fall apart.
Garner and Affleck officially ended their ten year marriage in 2015, finalizing the divorce three years later. And while the chapter closed, Garner kept moving forward with intention.
These days, she is balancing motherhood, advocacy work with Save the Children US and Once Upon a Farm, and returning to screens for the next season of The Last Thing He Told Me alongside Angourie Rice, Aisha Tyler, and Nikolaj Coster Waldau.
No dramatics. No bitterness. Just honesty, growth, and a woman who understands that healing is not about erasing the past. It is about choosing who and what carries you forward.
And if that is not grown woman energy, I do not know what is.
