Baby when I tell you Atlanta has been giving Dallas rapper Erica Banks a whole lot more than studio inspiration I mean it. Sis found herself in handcuffs again this week and the tea is piping.
So picture this. It is Monday December eighth. The traffic is trafficking just outside Atlanta in Brookhaven about twenty miles from the city. Erica who the government calls Erica Breaux gets pulled over and the next thing we know she is being taken into custody. Officers say they found ecstasy and not the cute kind from a rave but enough to hit her with possession of a Schedule One or Two controlled substance with intent to distribute. That is the kind of charge that will make even the hottest rapper stop mid bar.
Erica was booked in DeKalb County Jail and spent just long enough to catch her breath before being released a little after midnight on Tuesday. And honey let me tell you the details around this arrest are thinner than my patience when my coffee order is wrong. Her team and the Brookhaven Police are keeping things real quiet.
Now if all this feels familiar that is because it is. This is Erica’s second run in with Georgia law in less than a year. Back in August sis was just trying to catch a flight out of Hartsfield Jackson when TSA looked in her bag and said hold up now. They found a black and gray Smith and Wesson in her carry on. A whole firearm. And not only that but the gun had been reported stolen from South Carolina back in twenty eighteen.
Erica said she had no clue the gun was even in the bag which honestly is a mood but TSA was not amused. She was booked into Clayton County Jail and charged with theft by receiving stolen property. Her attorney Jackie Patterson came out swinging at the time saying there was no way she knew the weapon was stolen and that they would fight to keep her record clean.
And guess what. That case is still hanging in the air like a wig in a windstorm.
So here we are again watching Erica Banks step right back into the Georgia spotlight for all the wrong reasons. Whether this is another misunderstanding or a storyline headed for a Lifetime biopic we will have to wait and see. But one thing is for sure. The Peach State keeps calling her name and not in the fun Southern hospitality kind of way.
